Working with Challenging Students

This training is about supporting you and the young people you have in your schools with their challenging behaviour. The training is not so much about introducing “new strategies” but focusing on helping you to make more meaning of the young person’s behaviour in the moment and how to support each other in reflective spaces.

Introduction to iLab

iLab is an experiential training programme for undergraduate medical students in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  iLab offer students the opportunity to practice interviewing and assessment skills in a supported and safe learning environment. Our experienced acting staff provide realistic renditions of C & A psychiatry presentations ranging from gaming addiction to adolescent self-harm. 

iLab is run in a small group format, and the teaching space is equipped with a full-wall one-way screen. Each iLab session follows a similar workflow of pre-brief preparation, full length clinical interview (approximately one hour) followed by a debrief to discuss the experience.

Introduction to iLab Rural

iLab Rural is an experiential training programme for undergraduate medical students in the field of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.  iLab offer students the opportunity to practice interviewing and assessment skills in a supported and safe learning environment. Our experienced acting staff provide realistic renditions of C & A psychiatry presentations ranging from OCD to adolescent self-harm. 

iLab is run in a small group format. Interviews are observed by a small group of colleagues via video link. Each iLab session follows a similar workflow of pre-brief, full length clinical interview (approximately one hour) followed by a debrief to discuss the experience. 

iLab Rural is delivered across two day intensive workshops. The next scheduled workshop will be in Port Pirie on 11th and 12th June 2019.

CAMHS Foundation Training

CAMHS Foundation Training provides an opportunity for clinicians working within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) to undertake structured learning around the fundamentals of working with families. Participants enrolled in this course will undertake both online and face-to-face learning built around iLab clinical simulations of child and adolescent mental health scenarios.
